Festival Opening Concert
International Repertoire Opera Arias & Choruses
(Verdi, Rossini, Puccini, Donizetti,
Offenbach, Sartori, Gershwin...)
Soloists of the French Armed Forces Choir :
Michel Courché (tenor)
Nicolas Bercet (baritone)
Baptiste Jore (bass)
Mattias Lecomte (pianist)
String trio :
Violin : Agnès Fosse - Viola : Sylvie Boucher - Cello : Eve Grougnet
"Claye Vocale" Choir
Choirmaster : Marie-Hélène Caspar
Nathalie Patard (soprano)
Set in the superbly lighted chancel of our church, this concert delivered moments of both wild, rambling fun - with Offenbach in particular - and reverent listening with the Hebrew Slaves’ chorus from Verdi’s Nabucco or the touching highlights from Rossini’s Moses.
All artists on schedule - the soloists of the French Armed Forces Choir, our invited string trio, our guest pianist and the Claye Vocale Choir - succeeded in turn in delighting their audience with emotion - light, relaxed or grave.

The Subboteya Ensemble
Russian, Ukrainian and Tsigane Singing
The Subboteya Ensemble offered an astounding performance ; with permanent good-humoured professionalism, their singers, dancers and musicians – all trained in the highly-acknowledged Russian academies – performed traditional songs relying on the flawless accompaniment of the ensemble’s two young virtuoso players: an exceptional balalaika specialist – a young woman, too - and a prize-winning accordionist acclaimed throughout Russia.
